Grumble Mapper
If you’re like me, you’ve been looking for a quick way to make gaming maps. Or maybe there are a million tools out there that do this and, unlike me, you actually took the time to find one. No matter. Something led you here and you’re welcome to download and use Grumble Mapper. It’s in its early stages, but I think you might still find it useful. Please leave comments or e-mail me with feature requests, bugs, etc.
To create your own tiles, add images to the tiles/images folder in the application directory. You can make subfolders to organize them if you’d like.
Current Features
- Easily create maps by choosing tiles and placing them on a grid
- Print maps in standard 1 inch x 1 inch grids
- Save and load maps you’ve created
- API to create your own tiles
- Decals — images that don’t snap to the grid but can be placed, oriented, resized, etc.
Future Features
- Customizable document settings (size, orientation, etc.)
- Drawing Layers
- Copy and paste
- Map Collections — multiple maps that are stored together and easily sorted, searched.
How To Use
- Select a tile from the library on the right. When you move the mouse over the map, you will see it. Click to place it on the map.
- Shift+scroll wheel rotates the tile
- Right click deletes tiles

Hey, nice software… Quick question, why can’t I get it to print at 1″, it’s only printing at a quarter size.

NewbieDM: There’s a bug with printing in that it prints the zoom state. Try zooming in until the grid is bigger and then printing.
Adrian: To open an .air file, you need to download Adobe Air from the Adobe website.
Mike: To add more tiles you can place images in the tiles/images folder in the main application folder. For more, see the Google Code page on creating tiles.
